Visa

General Informaiton

Valid passports are required. Entry visas may be necessary depending on the participant's nationality. Please refer to the website http://www.mofa.go.jp/j_info/visit/visa/index.html.

Among the PICES member countries, Russian and Chinese participants are required to obtain Business Visas.

Steps to get Visa:

  1. Apply for an invitation letter by filling out and sending the FORM and the PASSPORT PAGE scan containing your PHOTO in pdf / jpeg /png format to Dr. Hideki Ichihashi (processing takes 2-3 weeks)

  2. Apply for Visa (processing time varies)
    3. After receiving an invitation letter, submit your VISA application at the Japanese Embassy or any Japanese Consulate in your country


Deadline for invitation letter request

Please note that because it takes time to get an official government-issued invitation letter and to deliver the original hardcopy to the applicant, new requests for letters will NOT be accepted after September 1, 2018. Please send your request form to Dr. Hideki Ichihashi (pices-2018@ml.affrc.go.jp) as soon as possible before the deadline, even if your travel arrangements are not finalized.

Invitation Letter processing Status - September 17, 2018

All applications for an invitation letter received by the deadline of September 1, 2018 have been processed. If you have not received notification yet, please contact this email address pices-2018@ml.affrc.go.jp immediately.

Applications received after the deadline of September 1, 2018 are being processed. You should receive notification by September 30, 2018.

Please note that new applications for Letters of Invitation will no longer be accepted.
