SYMPOSIUM FORMAT and WHOVA APP.
ECCWO 5 will be a hybrid conference with options for both - in-person and on-line participation.
ECCWO 5 will use Whova, a conference app, to facilitate the hybrid participation and be a source of information.
Most Symposium Sessions will be available online via Whova. In addition, Whova will provide access to all uploaded posters.
Workshops will only be available for in-person participants.
HOW TO GET ACCESS TO THE WHOVA APP?
To participate in the conference and get Whova access, ALL registered participants need to pay their registration fees or have the fees waived. By the end of March, all registered participants will receive an email invitation to join the event and download the app.
There are two ways to download and use Whova app – mobile or desktop:
-
Download Whova Mobile App on a smartphone
https://whova.com/faq/why-should-i-download-whova-app/
-

WHAT DOES THE "HYBRID FORMAT" MEAN?
Livestreamed sessions and their talks are made available to watch or re-watch on the app after the symposium concludes.
All Plenary and Theme Sessions (S1-S19) will be live-streamed for on-line participants.
During these Sessions, on-line participants can send their questions to Conveners via messaging using Whova App.
Conveners are responsible for monitoring and answering questions during their sessions, and for follow up after their sessions with any unanswered online questions.
Some talks in the Theme Sessions will be given via recorded talks, but authors should be online to provide live answers to audience questions, and remote participants will be able to listen to the sessions and ask questions.
ALL Workshops, some special sessions, and the Poster Session will NOT be live-streamed. However, ALL poster presenters (in-person and on-line) will be sent
instructions about how to upload their posters.
Organizers will send you a personal link to access an online form. The URL will look like this “https://whova.com/xems/engage/artifact/event ID/letters12345678”. When you open it, you will see the name of the event at the top of the page and your poster title beneath it. No sign-in is necessary; the link will allow you to set up your booth.
Once you’ve filled out all relevant information, agree to the Whova Terms of Service, and click Submit.
You will then get a confirmation email from Whova that includes a link you can use to continue to update your booth.
See full guide
here for desktop and mobile users.
This will allow all participants to view all uploaded posters using the app. On-line participants can communicate with all other attendees (in-person, on-line) via messaging using Whova App, and this can be done outside of the poster session day as well. In the Poster section on Whova, all posters will have their own open chat log for questions and discussions with the presenter.
The conference will run on the
venue time zone.
Presenters' participation confirmaitons can be found
here.
General and Detailed Schedules can be found
here.
At least one Convenor for each session will be physically at the venue.
