Side Events

ECOPs tour to Yokohama Marine Park Visit and Seagrass Sowing
November 8, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Participants are encouraged to join the full-day event; however, you may also choose to attend only the morning session (seagrass sowing) or the afternoon session (a lecture by Yokohama Marine Park staff and a guided walk).

  • Lunch will be provided for those attending the full-day program.

  • A chartered bus will be available in the morning from Workpia Yokohama (the conference venue) to the park, and in the late afternoon from the park back to Workpia Yokohama.

  • Participants attending only the morning session will need to return to the venue, hotel, or home using public transportation.

  • Participants attending only the afternoon session are currently expected to travel to the park by public transportation. However, if there are many afternoon-only participants, a pick-up bus may be arranged around midday.

  • While the event is primarily intended for ECOPs, all PICES participants with an interest are welcome to join.

PICES Sport Event (Boccia)
November 13, 6-7:45 pm at Yokohama Budokan (Marshal Arts Hall)
PICES Sports Event is back! This year, you will enjoy Boccia. The venue, Yokohama Budokan, is a 15-20 minutes walk from the conference venue, Workpia. Refreshments and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided. As Budokan is a special place for Japanese traditional martial arts, please respect the rules as instructed below.- and enjoy!

No Booking is required, you can simply go to the venue, but don’t forget your name tag!

(JAMSTEC) targets ECOPs
(An ECOP is someone who self-identifies as an early career professional in the beginning of their career, with ten years or less of professional experience.)
